|Summary:||How can big data and analytics to identify and manage Officer Wellness concerns? A demonstration of the use of analytics and performance management systems to identify potential PTSD/officer wellness indicators.|
|Abstract:||There are approximately 900,000 sworn officers in the United States. According to some studies, 19% of them may have PTSD. Other studies suggest that approximately 34% suffer symptoms associated with PTSD but do not meet the standards for the full diagnosis. This session will introduce the signs of PTSD in police officers and explain why some officers get PTSD while others do not. The presenter will identify the impacts to agencies with officers that have diagnosed PTSD and provide instruction to supervisors the signs/symptoms. The presentation will include a demonstration showing how supervisors and command staff can use analytics and performance management systems to identify potential PTSD indicators and officer wellness concerns.|
