22nd Annual Edition

ALPHARETTA, GEORGIA – April 16, 2019 – The Sierra-Cedar 2019–2020 HR Systems Survey, 22ndAnnual Edition is open and available for participation by the greater HR community through June 10th. The Survey is the longest running, most widely distributed, and most highly participative research effort in the HR industry. It annually tracks the adoption, deployment approaches, and value achieved from HR technologies. All responses are confidential and only used in the aggregate. The Survey results will debut at the HR Technology® Conference in Las Vegas, held October 1st–4th, 2019.

What did the Survey identify last year?

Data shared by 1,636 unique organizations representing a total workforce of 23.6 million employees and contingent workers revealed that HR technology selection and adoption is rapidly shifting to a focus on culture and strategy outcomes. Organizations are reassessing their HR technology environments, evaluating intelligent technologies, and determining where those fit into their long-term goals for meeting employee and business needs. Growing demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) insights, data aggregation tools such as Data Lakes, and the impact of the growing Employee Data Footprint were identified as emerging trends in the HR technology conversation.

What’s new this year?

In 2019, we are exploring trends around employee communications, supplemental learning technologies (e.g., adaptive learning platforms, Learning Record Stores, and engagement platforms), as well as talent acquisition tools. We are diving deeper to determine how post-deployment cloud support and/or HR BPaaS affects emerging technologies (e.g., predictive analytics and machine learning) and drives business outcomes. Additionally, we’ve expanded our field of software vendors to recognize new and niche HR technologies in the market.
