Sierra-Cedar Helps Lucas County Migrate from PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud Applications

May 7, 2020 – Alpharetta, GA – Sierra-Cedar, Inc. announced Lucas County, Ohio’s go-live on Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud and Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud solutions. The 11-month effort replaced PeopleSoft Financials and was part of an overall initiative to standardize and streamline business processes across all county departments and agencies.

By moving the financial applications into a Cloud deployment model just prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, the County’s workforce was able to continue its operations while working remotely.

“Going live on Oracle Cloud Applications in January 2020 allowed Lucas County to continue doing business without missing a beat during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tony Stechschulte, Director of Accounting, Office of Anita Lopez, Lucas County Auditor.

“Oracle Cloud Applications enables us to work efficiently and timely from any location. Decision makers are able to receive real-time accurate data to make the best decisions possible during this crisis, which has been a blessing. We thank Sierra-Cedar for its dedication, hard work, and professionalism in helping us complete our Oracle Cloud Applications conversion on time and on budget,” Stechschulte added.

The implementation included an extensive amount of functionality including financials, expense management, cash management, procurement, supplier portal, contracts, and budgeting. Top goals for the system include improved financial reporting, elimination of paper-based record keeping, automated workflow for approvals, advanced procurement, project management and accounting, and budgeting for all County services and personnel.

“It has truly been a privilege to work with Lucas County’s talented, creative, and ambitious team on this very successful project. The success of the project is amplified given the COVID-19 outbreak just weeks after go-live. While we’ve always appreciated that Oracle Cloud allows our customers to transact anywhere, anytime with a variety of devices, it is heartwarming to see that this capability enabled the user community at the County to continue performing essential duties while working safely away from the office during this crisis. This was not a possibility with the County’s prior system,” said Brian Christenson, Sierra-Cedar’s Vice President – Public Sector Solutions.

The project is the first of two phases in the modernization project. The second phase, which started in November 2019, includes the implementation of Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud. It is expected to go live in early 2021.
